For those who may not know, I am from Alaska, I have Denaina and Aleut ancestry, and this touched my heart because the permafrost in the interior region of Alaska is melting, causing all sorts of climate shifts and issues for us originating people here in particular. the fact that such an iconic well-known musician paid enough attention, and even came all the way here to make a statement with his gift of music, truly moves my heart beyond words.

My favourite movie of all time & my favourite cellist of all time. I remember listening to you playing the haydn c concerto over and over again after I recorded it from the radio in 1990 or something. Dorothy Chandler pavillion.Davidoff Stradivarius. My favourite concerto to play. Music took me all over the world and I made friends for life. Now I practice Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine with sound healing. My goal is to heal people with music/frequency and compose a piece that is unique for their condition so that they can play that outside the clinic. & in-between sessions. As a meditation. I was thinking of crystal singing bowls but then I did not spend countless hours practicing/perfroming the cello for more then half my life to not use it. So thank you My Ma for the reminder and the impact you had on my life and love for the cello and music. Eternally grateful. Love Maya 🙏💚

Hey, Yo-Yo-Ma I don’t know if you may remember this person but I’ll ask anyways. I am the grandchild of Ernest Bloch the 2nd. Me and my mom have been wanting to reach out to you for many reasons mainly just wondering if you remembered my grandpa but also so that I could tell you that I am perusing my own musical career and that cello is on the top of my list for instruments that I want to play professionally. Currently I am playing alto sax in the 8th grade and I’m going into high school.
